requesting alternative github issue reporting
Ligne 1 076 :
:It’s may be a good idea. The problem is that a lot of contributors doesn’t have a github account so it’s more easy for them to use discussions pages. If you want to report issues in an English wiki you can do it here. Tpt (d) 5 mai 2012 à 12:21 (UTC)
::Language is one issue, but a minor one (and I was wrong about adding a new section, as I have just discovered). I think that having to edit a wiki page to file bug reports is an unnecessarily complex way to do it (with no real gain in the bug report). I have reported more than five bugs and you were the only one that replied to my comments. I see your point, but do you really think that it is so important that all contributors can comment on my bug reports? (I mean, they aren't that important.) I know there isn't a perfect solution, but maybe reporting bugs at Github is the only way for to keep track of what has been fixed and what needs to be reported. My way to show gratitude is to report what I think it can be improved. But I'm not used to wiki and issue-tracking systems do a much better job here (at least, I'm much more used to work with them). But I'm afraid I'm not able to contribute further (because it takes longer than it should). Sorry for that and many thanks for your work. --Ousia (d) 5 mai 2012 à 12:51 (UTC)

github as an alternative site to report WSexport issues
I have new bugs (and pending replies) that I would like to report at github. But I don't want to do it, unless you are confortable with having issues reported there. I will try to explain why github is much more useful to report issues than editing your user discussion page (or any wiki page, for that matter).

In theory, reporting bugs here is easy: all one has to do is add a new section describing the bug. The problem comes when you have to reply to different issues, which means having to edit a relative large page on different places (and it isn't clear at first sight which are those places). Depending on your computer and your connection speed, adding new sections or subsections might be easier using a local text editor and copying them to the wiki page when finished. But replying in text doesn't work with a local editor. Also the preview is slower and more cumbersome to edit after at the wiki than at github issue report. And also adding code to a wiki page isn't as easy as it might seem and it won't be displayed fine.

You replied to my github suggestion that although it might be a good idea, it would impose a heavy burden on contributors, since many of them would have to register at github first. Excuse me, I explained myself in an inaccurate way. I'm not proposing github as the only option to report bugs, but only as an alternative (for those who want to use it). I think this alternative might only have two better consecuences: better notification (since github notification emails include content) and easier reply abilities (since one can reply to reported issues via email and doesn't need to login to github).

Wouldn't it be possible to report bugs also at https://github.com/wsexport/tool/issues, being up to the user where (s)he reports the issues? I'm really interested in a reply.

Many thanks for your excellent work. --Ousia (d) 11 mai 2012 à 10:37 (UTC)
