the Crown, by the Roman Catholic Inhabitants of that place, on account of land and buildings purchased in their behalf in the year 1822, I beg you will submit the following summary of the case to the favorable consideration of the Lords Commissioners of H. M. Treasury.

« The sale of these premmises was authorized by Mr. Harrisons letter (11059) dated 4th July 1821, and the property was sold, in 1822, for the sum of £1,312 currency, being the amount paid for it by the Crown in 1812, payable in annual instalments with interest. By the accompanying statement from the office of accounts, at this station, their Lordships will perceive that £l,362,16.10¼ currency, in principal and interest has been already paid into the Military Chest on account of this purchase ; exceeding, in the sum of £50.16.10¼ the price of the property without interest : the purchasers therefore request, that the balance still due to the Crown, accruing from the interest of the debt &c. which their Lordships will moreover perceive by the statement amounts to £232.11.2½ currency may be remitted ; and under all the circumstances of the case I beg to express my hope that the application of the Vicar General may be accorded.

James Kempt.
Commander of the Forces »[1]
