2. ANDERSON Patrice, jésuite écossais, né à Elgin ou à Moray en 1575, admis au noviciat de Rome en 1597, fut missionnaire en Angleterre. En 1615, il remplit le premier la charge du recteur du collège des Écossais à Rome ; de retour dans sa patrie, il fut arrêté, emprisonné à Édimbourg, n’échappa au dernier supplice que par l’intercession du marquis d’Effiat, ambassadeur de France, et mourut à Londres, le 24 septembre 1624. — The ground of the catholike and roman religion in the word of God. With the antiquity and continuance therof, troughout all Kingdomes and ages. Collected out of divers conferences, discources, and disputes… with sundry Bishops and ministers of Scotland, 1623, in-4°. L’ouvrage devait avoir deux autres parties.
