The idea of the structure came from the traditional Marshes guest house.

Anis Ajina was born in Najaf in 1930.

He studied architecture at Hammersmith school of Architecture London 1950-1956 constructional engineering and architecture diploma.

Then he studied at the University of Geneva (school of Architecture) 1957-1959 town planning post graduate.

He returned to Iraq and opened an engineering office in 1959 in partnership with architect Mostafa Al Jaf, and then joined by architect Ibrahim Allawi.

He left Iraq to Paris in 1963 and he worked with UNESCO until his retirement in 1988.

He died in 2000 at the age of 70 years.
